South African ISP MWeb experienced an SMTP outage today, affecting many of our clients.
MWeb’s SMTP service has been offline for most of today. This means that MWeb subscribers have been unable to send email through their SMTP service, and also that emails destined to MWeb have been unable to deliver.
For Anno clients on the MWeb network, there are two options for sending email:
- Using the MWeb SMTP service: This usually works very reliably; today is an anomaly. Set your outgoing (SMTP) server to smtp.mweb.co.za and the SMTP port to 25. If you experience any problems with this, please contact MWeb for support (this has nothing to do with us).
- Using the Anno SMTP service: Set your outgoing (SMTP) mail server to mail.yourdomain.com (replace with your actual domain), the SMTP port to 587, and enable SMTP authentication (i.e. log in to send email in the same way as logging in to receive email). If you run into any problems with this, do contact us for assistance.
