Email account configuration in Microsoft Outlook Print

  • 44

You can access your mailbox using any POP3 or IMAP compatible email client. This includes all versions of Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express and Windows Live Mail.

To send and receive email using Microsoft Outlook, use the following settings (replace "mydomain.com" with your actual domain name):

  • Incoming (POP3/IMAP) mail server: mail.mydomain.com
  • Outgoing (SMTP) mail server: mail.mydomain.com (You can also use your ISP's SMTP server; check with your ISP for details.)
  • Username: your email address, e.g. myname@mydomain.com
  • Password: the password you assigned to your mailbox in cPanel
  • SMTP authentication: Set Outlook to log on when sending email, and use the same username and password as for receiving email. This setting is available when clicking More Settings and then opening the Outgoing Server tab.
  • Encrypted login: Use SSL/TLS or automatic setting.
  • Ports:
    • Incoming server: For POP3, use port 995. Use port 993 for IMAP.
    • Outgoing server: Use port 587 for SMTP
    • To adjust ports, you may have to click a More Settings button and then open the Advanced tab.

Troubleshooting

If you experience problems sending or receiving email, we recommend you check access to your mailbox using WebMail. You may be using an incorrect username or password:

  • URL: http://webmail.yourdomains.com
  • Username: same as above, i.e. your email address such as you@yourdomain.com
  • Password: same as above, i.e. the password you assigned to your mailbox in cPanel

Once logged in to WebMail, pick one of the email applications. (The applications differ in functionality and complexity—our favourite is RoundCube.)
